Monsey in Shock after Sudden Petirah of Reb Shlomo Moshe Pinkasowitz, a"h

Monsey is reeling from the sudden petirah of Reb Shlomo Moshe Pinkasowitz, z"l, a beloved Vizhnitzer chossid who was niftar on Shabbos at the age of 75.

Reb Shlomo Moshe had spent Shabbos in Williamsburg, where he was celebrating a family simcha, and he remained at the tish on leil Shabbos until the very end. On Shabbos, moments after getting up, he suddenly collapsed to the ground and was niftar.

The niftar was a son of Reb Pinchas a"h, one of the elder chassidim of Vizhnitz, and a son-in-law of Reb Moshe Nechemya Shtroibl of Sanz-Klausenburg. He was a brother of Kaser Village Mayor Eli Pinkasowitz.

Reb Shlomo Moshe learned in the same class as the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey, shlit"a, and remained his closest chaver through the years, the two having toiled together in Torah since their bochur days. For many years he would come to Monsey to spend Rosh Hashanah with the Rebbe, until moving to Monsey about three years ago.

Those who knew Reb Shlomo Moshe describe a true ehrlicher Yid, a man of good middos who was loved by all who knew him. He raised a beautiful family, and was a constant presence at the Viznitz tish in Monsey as a true Chusid.

The levaya was held in Williamsburg on Motzaei Shabbos. A levaya in Monsey took place Sunday at 1:30 PM.

Yehi zichro boruch.
