The Rockland County Veterans' Coordinating Council held a memorial ceremony this afternoon at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery on Brick Church Road in Spring Valley.

"Always nice attending Memorial Day events throughout the county," Chestnut Ridge Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose tells Rockland Daily. "The brave men and women who gave so much to this country deserve to be honored and recognized. We owe them a debt of gratitude for the freedom we so dearly cherish."

Rockland County Executive Ed Day, Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann,  New York State Senator Bill Weber, Chestnut Ridge Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose, Town of Ramapo Police Chief Martin Reilly, Rockland County Legislators Aron Wieder, Joel Friedman, and Phil Soskin attended along with veterans, Ramapo police officers, and community leaders.

"It was meaningful to stand side by side next to our dedicated heroes who fought for our country," Rockland County Legislator Joel Friedman shares with Rockland Daily, "and to be there to pay tribute and recognize those who paid the ultimate price to defend our country and who handed us the cherished gift of freedom we can never take for granted."
