Legendary Raleigh Hotel Sold to HCS

YS Gold

After close to a century of summers in which the Raleigh Hotel on Heiden Road in South Fallsburg has served as a summer getaway for Yidden escaping the city heat, the hotel is now in contract with the HCS organization for children with special needs.

The hotel was purchased in the year 2006 after it had sat empty, following its former glory during the “borscht belt” days when it was a popular resort destination, beginning in 1937. The current administration made many renovations and upgrades around the property in the ensuing years, including the introduction of a large, magnificent shul that has served as a magnet for Torah and tefillah for the entire area.

HCS has already occupied a part of the hotel in past summers, but now Rockland Daily has learned that it is being sold to the organization.

It remains to be seen whether the Raleigh will continue to be open to the public in any capacity, as a statement from one of the hotel managers suggested that the hotel would continue to take in guests.
