Lane, Bridge Closures Suspended Across NY for Next Two Weekends

All land and bridge closures statewide will be suspended over the next two weekends to cut down on traffic as much as possible. 

From today, starting at 6 a.m. through Thursday, December 26, and again from Friday, December 29, starting at 6 a.m. through Tuesday, January 2, all temporary lane and bridge closures across New York State will be lifted.

Drivers should be aware, though, that the service stations on the Thruway that are closed due to construction will remain closed. Additionally, emergency repair construction will be allowed to continue behind permanent concrete barriers.

From 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 7 a.m. the next morning, the New York State Thruway Authority will have free coffee and tea available for Thruway drivers as a way of encouraging alert driving.
