Historic: Skver Begins Seat Selection Process For New Large Shul

The new Shul, the Beis Medresh Hagodol in Shikun Skver, has reached another major step as the process of selling seats is now getting underway.
The seat selection is being arranged through a detailed system prepared by a special Vaad, which spent a long time working out how the seats should be divided among the members of the kehillah.
Under the system, mispallelim are divided into different groups, with age and participation in the building campaign among the factors used to determine each group.
Within the shul itself, the seats are also divided into different sections and categories, with different locations and prices among the details included in the selection process.
Each group is being given a designated time to come to a center, where members will be able to review maps of the new shul and choose available seats.
The process is also being divided by weeks and days, with each group receiving its own scheduled time so the seat selection can be done in an organized and orderly way. When a group is designated for a specific week, the names of the members are alphabetically drawn for specific days in the week.
The start of seat selection marks an important milestone for the Skver kehillah, as every member will now have a designated, fully paid-for seat in the shul that the community built with so much dedication, sacrifice, and heart over the past several years.
The milestone comes as the new Bais Medrash nears two years since the historic move into the building, a period during which the massive structure has become the central hub of life in the shtetl.
