Hatzoloh of Rockland Unveils New State-of-the-Art Dispatch Center in Monsey

In a monumental step forward for emergency response services in the Rockland area, Hatzoloh of Rockland County officially inaugurated its brand-new, state-of-the-art dispatch center Sunday Afternoon. Located in the heart of Monsey at 33 Downtown Drive off Route 59, the new facility marks a significant upgrade for the organization, which continues to grow alongside the rapidly expanding community it serves.

The event began with a Kevias Mezuzah ceremony led by two esteemed members of the Vaad Harabbanim of Hatzoloh: the Satmar Rov, Rav Chaim Shia Halberstam, Shlita, and the Belzer Dayan, Rav Tovia Wettenstein, Shlita. The Rabbanim shared heartfelt words, highlighting the tremendous importance of this milestone and how it reflects the unwavering commitment Hatzoloh has toward safeguarding klal yisroel in Rockland County.

What began decades ago as a small volunteer group in a quiet Monsey neighborhood has evolved into a highly advanced and dynamic emergency response organization. With some days seeing over 80 emergency calls and managing 150 to 200 phone calls daily, the demand has far outpaced the capacity of a single-dispatcher setup. Recognizing this shift, the organization determined that the time had come for a significant infrastructure upgrade.

“This is not just a dispatch center. It’s the beating heart of Hatzoloh’s operations,” explained a member of the Dispatch Committee. “We’ve gone from one dispatcher managing calls to a professional dual-dispatcher system, with the ability to operate up to four dispatchers simultaneously in times of increased call volume. This facility is fully equipped to handle that and more.”

The new center features cutting-edge communications technology, custom-built dispatch stations, upgraded phone systems, and ergonomic furnishings—designed to allow dispatchers to function efficiently and comfortably even during the most critical moments. More importantly, the design of the room ensures seamless coordination between dispatchers, medics, and EMT's.

While the financial cost of such an undertaking was substantial, Hatzoloh leadership made it clear that the decision was driven by necessity—not luxury. “When someone picks up the phone in their moment of crisis, they need to know Hatzoloh is ready,” said R' Heshe Greenzweig, President of Hatzoloh.  “We never start by looking at the cost. We ask what’s needed and we do it. That’s always been our approach, and that’s how we stay a step ahead.”

As dispatchers and members toured the new facility throughout the day, excitement was palpable. Many shared their appreciation for the investment being made in their tools and environment—an acknowledgment of the vital role dispatchers play as the first line of defense in any emergency.

Board Member R' Tovi Mermelstein emphasized the gratitude Hatzoloh owes to those who helped make this project possible. “This could not have been done without the incredible generosity of the owners of 33 Downtown Drive,” he said. “We are especially thankful to R’ Gavriel Dorfman, a fellow board member, who graciously committed to sponsoring the rent for the first year, and to R’ Yossi Brachfeld, whose support throughout this project was instrumental.”

Even with the financial burden of outfitting the center—including new radio infrastructure, computer systems, and furniture—Mermelstein reiterated that the team is immensely grateful. “Their sponsorship gave us the ability to build without hesitation. Thanks to them, Hatzoloh continues to operate at the highest standards possible.”

This new dispatch center is more than just a building—it’s a declaration that Rockland Hatzoloh is ready for the future, unwavering in its mission, and prepared to answer the call, no matter the hour.
