Governor Kathy Hochul is celebrating major infrastructure improvements across the Mid-Hudson region, which have made roads safer and smoother for residents.
This year, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) filled over 1.2 million potholes and maintained 1,802 bridges. NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez stated, “We’re modernizing New York State’s transportation infrastructure.”
The New York State Thruway Authority also reinvested $321 million to improve 441 lane miles of the Thruway and $159 million for 18 bridges. “We’re enhancing safety and improving travel,” said Thruway Executive Director Frank G. Hoare.
From these numbers, 243 miles and 512 bridges were improved in the Mid-Hudson area, enhancing travel for Rockland County residents.
Governor Hochul’s $33 billion, 5-year State Capital Plan drives these upgrades, with programs like “Pave Our Potholes” dedicating $500 million for local roads. “We’re making significant progress toward modernizing our infrastructure,” Hochul said.
These efforts are part of a statewide commitment to boost road safety and efficiency.
