Governor Hochul Awards Downtown Revitalization Initiative And NY Forward Funding To Local Villages

By Idy Perl

Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that funding from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative and the NY Forward programs were awarded to several local neigborhoods to help revitalize the communities and grow their economy.

The DRI and NY Forward programs fund and support various affordability initiatives that are part of Governor Hochul's agenda, including affordable housing, free child care, public parks and spaces, public art, and free outdoor recreation centers. The programs seek to transform New York neighborhoods into vibrant communities and will invest a total of $200 million into the state's 10 economic regions.

“We are changing the game for these communities by supporting affordable housing, local businesses, and sustainable infrastructure,” Governor Hochul said. “I see a future where every New Yorker has the chance to thrive in communities around the state. I want to ensure that New York has neighborhoods that are not just places to live, but places where people can work, grow, and succeed.”

In the latest rounds of funding, the Villages of Nyack and Dobbs Ferry will each receive $4.5 million as the Mid-Hudson winners of the third round of the NY Forward program, and Poughkeepsie will receive $10 million in funding as the Mid-Hudson winner of the eighth round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
