Frightening Night Turns Surreal as ‘Burglar’ Revealed to Be Baby Bear

Police were called to a home on McNamara Road in New Hempstead late on motzei Shabbos. The homeowner was frantic, having barricaded herself into her room after hearing footsteps in the basement. 

When police and Rockland Chaverim arrived at the scene, they found that the intruder in the home was none other than a bear cub, which had smashed a window in order to gain entry into the home. 

The mother bear was near the home as well, but scurried away as soon as the teams arrived. 

The homeowner was able to free the baby bear by opening the garage door, bringing the dramatic incident to a safe conclusion.
