Federal Bomb Threat Assessment Training Held in Monsey
A one-hour public safety training hosted by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Office for Bombing Prevention was held at the Community Outreach Center on Remsen Avenue.
The training brought together emergency management representatives, critical infrastructure operators, and community members for an overview of how bomb threats are assessed and managed. A live instructor reviewed different types of threats, the assessment process, and how a Bomb Threat Management plan guides decision-making during an incident.
“In the New York area, the Jewish community has experienced close to 200 bomb threats over the past few years,” said Ethan Erlich from Community Security Initiative, who led the event. “We want to make sure our institutions and the police departments we rely on are properly equipped, trained, and prepared to respond.”
Participants also worked through practical scenarios focused on applying risk management principles to potential bomb threats. The training aimed to strengthen preparedness and improve how facilities and responders handle these situations.
