Fatal Collision on Interstate 87

At approximately 1:22 a.m., New York State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Interstate 87 southbound. The incident occurred near Exit 12 of the New York State Thruway.

A 2022 Tesla was speeding when the driver attempted to change lanes to exit the Thruway. In the process, the vehicle struck the end of the guide rail, causing it to overturn multiple times before crashing into a utility pole.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of speeding on the roads, especially during late-night driving hours.
