East Ramapo School Board Approves Motion For Financial Audit

By Idy Perl
The East Ramapo Central School District board approved a motion to hire an outside firm to do a complete forensic audit of the district's financials following the shocking discovery of the $90 million surplus in the budget.
The motion was passed during a tense meeting on Tuesday night at which multiple frustrated parents and students stood up and voiced their concerns. They complained about the conditions of the local school buildings, which are in desperate need of maintenance, the low pay that workers receive, the lackluster food that is offered, and more issues that could've been addressed with the surplus money.
Constituents and officials alike, including Senator Bill Weber and Assemblyman Aron Wieder, are demanding answers as to how such a large amount of money was misplaced and where it will now go.
