Report: First 30 Million, Now $100 Million Surplus Discovered in East Ramapo School District

Just a few months ago, a surplus of $30 million was discovered in an audit for the East Ramapo Central School District, which left the community bewildered, but a fresh report now says the surplus may be up to $100 million, a record amount of money.
The alleged surplus, which was first reported by community organization RJA, leaves an entire district in deep shock over the financial disarray.
Previously there was a reported deficit that prompted the State Education Department (SED) to take the extraordinary step of substantially increasing and overriding the voted upon property tax levy on East Ramapo residents to generate needed funds, as reported on Rockland Daily.
Rockland Daily will closely follow this issue, and report on any future developments.
