Downed Wires Due To Strong Winds Causing Power And Traffic Light Outages

By Idy Perl

The strong winds in Rockland County are causing some downed wires and traffic light outages in the Monsey area.

Several wires that were downed by fallen trees on Mountain Avenue and Nelson Road, as well as on South Parker Drive, are causing a power outage in the area, with around 480 customers in the Mountain Avenue area and another 30 in the South Parker Drive area currently effected. Additional wires on Dolson Road are down as well.

The outages are effecting several traffic lights in the area as well, as the lights on North Airmont and Montebello Road, as well as at the corner of Highview and College Road, are currently out of order. Drivers are urged to use caution at those intersections.

O&R is expected to arrive shortly to fix the issue.
