Downed Wires Cause Major Power Outage In Airmont, Road Closures On Route 59

By Idy Perl

Parts of Suffern are currently experiencing a power outage due to several downed wires on Route 59.

What started as a transformer fire quickly escalated and caused wires to fall in front of the Tallman Fire House, located at the corner of Route 59 and Cherry Lane. O&R, the Monsey Fire Department, and the Tallman Fire Department are currently on the scene to secure the area and resolve the issue. Multiple stores, including The Hive Discount, are experiencing total power outages, leaving customers unable to pay for their purchases.

Route 59 is currently closed between Cherry Lane and South Airmont Road, and traffic lights in the area aren't working.
