Clarkstown Plans Six-Month Freeze on Major Development Projects
By Y.M. Lowy
The Clarkstown Town Board held a press conference at Town Hall to announce details of a proposed six-month building moratorium, which means a temporary pause on certain development.
The moratorium would temporarily pause new development applications for multifamily projects, large-scale subdivisions, and commercial and industrial developments such as AI data centers.
The pause would give the town time to review how large developments could affect transportation, the environment and public safety. A public hearing on the proposed moratorium is also being held as part of the process.
Supervisor George Hoehmann and members of the Clarkstown Town Board announced the details during the press conference in New City.
