Chief Hyman Commends Ramapo Police Officers For Brave Rescue

Ramapo Police Chief Dan Hyman is commending Ramapo Police officers for their bravery and commitment to the safety on the community regarding an recent incident.
Three weeks ago, Ramapo officers responded to a violent armed robbery where a suspect held a knife to a victim’s neck, threatened his life, and stole numerous personal items. During the investigation, the officers learned the suspect’s name and identified a young woman who had been present at the scene, and suspected she had been there against her will. Her safety immediately became the officers' top priority.
Between coordinated efforts of on-duty and off-duty officers from multiple units, the Ramapo Police developed a lead on her location through interviews and social media inquiries. Officers quickly found her safe and unharmed.
The suspect with found together with her and was immediately taken into custody. The officers also recovered the stolen property and the knife used in the robbery. The suspect was charged with Robbery in the First Degree, a Class B Felony.
