Chesed 24/7 Honored at Annual NYC Jewish Heritage Reception

By Y.M. Lowy

R’ Shulem and Chavie Greenberg of Chesed 24/7 of New Square were honored at New York City’s Annual Jewish Heritage Reception, where they received the Mayor’s Service Award for their tireless work bringing comfort and care to patients and their families in hospitals in Manhattan and beyond.

The event, hosted by NYC Mayor Eric Adams and attended by many Jewish community leaders, took place Tuesday evening at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan. Also noticeably present at the event was R' Yisroel Moshe Spitzer, the Mayor of New Square.

During her speech, Mrs. Greenberg spoke about the Chesed 24/7 hospitality rooms, open to anyone in need of a drink, a bite to eat, or a quiet place to rest their anxious minds. She shared how these little comforts can have a big impact. People often come in feeling unsure when they're hungry, thirsty, or stressed, but they leave feeling satisfied, calmer, and ready to take on what's next.

She closed by thanking Mayor Eric Adams for his continued support of Chesed 24/7 and the broader Jewish community, helping make it possible for the organization to keep serving with warmth and dedication every hour of the day.
