BDE: R' Yosef Yehudah Rottenberg

By Y. S. Gold
We regret to inform you of the passing of Rav Yosef Yehuda Rothenberg, a tremendous gaon from the Monsey community. He was seventy-seven years of age.
The niftar was the son of the legendary Rav Moshe Rothenberg, a talmid of the Lubliner Yeshiva, and the Rosh Yeshiva of the Gerer Mesivta in Boro Park.
He emerged from this home steeped in Torah with a burning love for Torah which would not depart him until his last day. He spent his life immersed in learning, and his davening was likewise legendary.
He suffered from illness for a number of years before his passing, and he accepted his yisurim with love and acceptance.
With his passing late Wednesday, he left behind a beautiful Torah family who continue to follow in his ways.
The levaya will pass the Amshinover Shtiebel in Monsey, where he was a regular mispalel, and from there it will proceed to JFK for kevurah in Eretz Yisroel.
Yehi zichro baruch.
