Camp Merockdim Announces Closure After 29 Years
Yisroel R.
Camp Merockdim has announced that it will be closing after 29 years of operation, according to a letter sent to families this week.
In the message, camp leadership said the decision comes after the campground they had been using moved forward in the process of receiving construction approvals, bringing an end to their ability to continue operating at the site.
The camp said efforts were made to locate a new property that would meet families’ needs while still maintaining the outdoor campground atmosphere that Merockdim was known for. After an extended search, however, a suitable location could not be found.
The closure was described as a difficult decision after nearly three decades of running the camp and serving families.
Camp leadership said they are working to help families transition their children to other camps for the upcoming summer and are assisting parents with transferring their registrations.
According to the letter, any money collected by Camp Merockdim will go directly toward the new camp families choose for their children.
Camp Merockdim finished the letter by thanking the parents for allowing the camp to be part of their children’s summer experiences over the past 29 years.
