Breaking: SCN Benefits Temporarily Suspended Across Upstate Due to Funding Shortfall
SCN benefits have been temporarily suspended across Upstate New York, including the Monsey and Catskills areas, after funding for the program was exhausted, leaving participating stores unable to continue processing benefit transactions.
Although messages circulated throughout the day indicating that SCN benefits would remain available until 4:00 p.m. Friday, numerous participating stores reportedly stopped accepting the benefits earlier after they no longer had the financial backing needed to honor additional purchases.
The unexpected suspension left many recipients unable to use their benefits and caused confusion among both shoppers and store owners, as the earlier cutoff came before the widely shared deadline.
At this time, the suspension is being described as temporary while additional funding is sought. No official timeline has yet been announced for when SCN benefits will resume.
Recipients are advised to monitor updates from SCN for further information regarding the restoration of the program.
