BREAKING: Armed Suicidal Suspect Cornered After Crashing Into Police Vehicle in Rockland County

A rapidly unfolding situation has gripped Rockland County late Motze Shabbos, as an armed and suicidal suspect who led police on a dangerous multi-town pursuit has now been cornered by authorities.
The incident began in front of 140 Route 9W in Haverstraw, where the suspect was initially spotted holding a gun to his head. A pursuit ensued through multiple areas of Rockland County, prompting a massive multi-agency response.
Law enforcement temporarily lost visual contact with the suspect in the Clarkstown area, triggering the launch of a police helicopter to aid in the search. Moments later, the suspect was located again just before he crashed head on into a police vehicle on North Main Street at the corner of Zukor Road in New City.
Emergency services are now responding to the scene for an injured officer involved in that collision. The extent of the officer's injuries is currently unknown.
Police now have eyes on the suspect, who remains armed and is again holding the gun to his head. Officers are working to de-escalate the situation safely and bring it to a resolution.
This is an active and developing story. Please stay tuned to Rockland Daily for continuing updates. Residents are urged to avoid the area and remain indoors as police operations continue.
