Body Found in Suffern Quarry Identified as Local Man

Authorities have identified the body discovered floating in the Suffern Quarry on Monday as that of 57-year-old Mario Martinez-Campos, a local resident originally from Guatemala, according to Police Lt. William Simurra.

The discovery has prompted an ongoing investigation into the cause and manner of Martinez-Campos’ death, Simurra confirmed on Friday. The Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed an autopsy, but the results have not yet been released to the public.

At this time, police do not believe the incident poses any threat to the community, Simurra stated.
