BDE: Tragedy on the Delaware River

By Rockland Daily Staff

Klal Yisroel in the Tri-State Area was thrown into shock and mourning this afternoon as news arrived of the drowning of Rav Baruch Ber Ziemba, a talmid chochom and Rosh Chaburah in Lakewood, while on vacation with his family.

He was 39 years of age, and a father of seven children.

The niftar was named for his great-great uncle, Haga’on Rav Baruch Ber Leibowitz, zt”l, and was the son of Rebbetzin Sarah Ziemba, a noted mechaneches in Brooklyn.

Rabbi Ziemba had been boating with some of his children when he jumped into the water to save one of his children. Just then, a wave came and dragged him underwater. Despite efforts by Hatzolah, he tragically returned his neshamah to its Maker.

The tragic news sent shockwaves throughout the community, as Klal Yisroel joined the family and talmidim of the niftar in anguished mourning.
