BDE: The Bania Rebbetzin, a”h

We are saddened to inform you of the petirah of the Bania Rebbetzin, Harabanis Sarah Henya Leifer, a”h, a longtime Monsey resident. She is the mother of the Bania Rebbe shlit”a of Monsey. She was in her seventies.

The nifteres was a scion of the holy Chernobyler dynasty; she was the daughter of Rebbe Avrohom Shmiel Twersky of Faltishan, and the granddaughter of Rebbe Eluzer of Faltishan, who transplanted this branch of the dynasty in Brooklyn.

She married her illustrious husband, Rebbe Meir Menashe Leifer, a scion of the Bania and Nadvorna dynasties. She stood at the side of her husband the Rebbe, even as he continued his avodas hakodesh amid extraordinary suffering. The Rebbetzin herself likewise went through many challenges and transcended them all with extraordinary grace and Emunah.

The Rebbetzin lived all her life cherishing her illustrious yichus, and passing it down to her children.

The levaya will take place 1:00 this afternoon at the Bania Beis Medrash, 9 Stonehouse Road.
