Assemblymen Patrick Carroll and Karl Brabenec have secured another term in the New York State Assembly following Tuesday's general election, continuing their representation of different portions of Rockland County in Albany.
Carroll, who was first elected to the State Assembly in November 2024, previously served on the Clarkstown Town Council from 2017 to 2024. During his first term in Albany, he focused on property tax relief, public safety, education funding, environmental protection, and addressing overdevelopment concerns. His district includes all of Clarkstown and Haverstraw, along with a portion of Orangetown.
Meanwhile, Republican Assemblyman Karl Brabenec secured reelection in the 98th Assembly District, running unopposed on the Republican and Conservative Party lines. Brabenec has represented the district since 2015, making him one of the longer-serving Assembly members representing the region.
Before entering the State Assembly, Brabenec served as Town Supervisor of Deerpark in Orange County from 2010 to 2014. Throughout his years in Albany, he has focused on reducing taxes, supporting small businesses, limiting government regulations, and addressing infrastructure needs across his district.
The 98th Assembly District includes western portions of Ramapo, including Airmont, Suffern, Montebello, Sloatsburg, and Hillburn, before extending into Orange County, where it covers several additional communities.
Both Carroll and Brabenec will begin their new two-year terms in January 2027, continuing to represent their respective districts in the New York State Assembly.
