24-Acre Future Home to Two Mosdos in Chestnut Ridge Begins Land Preparation

By M. C. Millman
The new Wellington Educational Initiative school campus for Bais Yaakov Elementary and Mesivta/Rabbinical College of Long Island cleared trees and leveled the land in preparation for the two school campuses, which will be located on the 24-acre property on Red Schoolhouse Road between Summit Road and DeSalvo Court in the Village of Chestnut Ridge.
The thirteen-year-old Bais Yaakov is presently located on Route 45 at the former Gould Academy, while the mesivta/college will be a new Rockland division of the Long Island yeshiva.
The proposal for the Wellington Educational Initiative was originally submitted to the Village of Chestnut Ridge in 2019. According to Rockland Business Journal, the new Bais Yaakov Elementary campus will be about 90,000 square feet. The yeshiva high school and rabbinical college will be about 51,000 square feet and will have two dormitory buildings housing 328 students plus two adult dorm counselors, a guard booth, play areas, and a basketball court.
An official even hapinah event is expected to take place in May.
