Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Rockland County
By Yisroel R.
Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services issued a winter weather advisory for Rockland County, warning residents to be prepared for icy conditions on roads and sidewalks later today and into the evening.
The advisory is expected to be in effect from 4:00 p.m. this afternoon until midnight, with temperatures expected to be between 29 and 32 degrees, creating conditions where ice may form on roads and sidewalks.
Officials say a light glaze of ice, up to one-tenth of an inch, is possible, and slippery and icy roads could lead to dangerous driving conditions for several hours. Drivers should watch for black ice, especially on bridges and overpasses.
Drivers are advised to slow down, increase following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns. Residents are encouraged to avoid any unnecessary travel during the advisory hours.
