Will Mike Lawler Run for Governor? Tomorrow Will Tell
By Rockland Daily Staff
It’s no longer much of a secret, beloved Congressman Mike Lawler has his sights set on the Governor’s seat. While he has yet to officially announce a run or spoke about this, those following his career have noticed the growing signs, especially as he continues to position himself as a sharp critic of Governor Kathy Hochul, who is seeking reelection.
In recent months, former President Donald Trump has also entered the picture, how heavily involved remains unclear. Trump has spoken about Lawler and even posted praise for the Congressman’s work on behalf of his district and constituents.
Over the weekend, Lawler met with Trump once again, and shortly afterward, speculation began to swirl that a final decision had been made and that an announcement was imminent.
Now, it appears that moment has arrived.
This evening, Fox & Friends announced that Congressman Lawler will be joining their program Tuesday morning for what he called “an important announcement.” Lawler himself tweeted:
"Tune into @foxandfriends tomorrow morning, July 23rd at 7:40 AM for an important announcement."
At the same time, News12’s Tara Rosenblum posted that she will be airing an exclusive interview with Lawler, writing:
"BREAKING 🚨 Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) has made a decision about whether or not to run for New York Governor. I will have an exclusive interview in the morning on News 12."
Will Mike Lawler officially throw his hat into the ring for Governor? We’ll all find out tomorrow.
Stay tuned.
