West Street Renamed for Fallen Firefighter

A section of West Street, including the area in front of the Columbian Fire Engine Co. No. 1 firehouse, was dedicated last night in memory of fallen firefighter Jared Lloyd. 

The half-mile length of West Street, starting from Route 59 and going until Sixth Street, was renamed Jared Lloyd Way.

Additionally, Lloyd's home firehouse unveiled a plaque with Lloyd's name on it that will remain at the firehouse in a place of honor. A singed hose from the last fire Lloyd fought fashioned into an American flag was also placed near the plaque.
