Warm Welcome for Senator Weber at Sanz Cheder, Where Gratitude Speaks Louder Than Words

Warm Welcome for Senator Weber at Sanz Cheder, Where Gratitude Speaks Louder Than Words

State Senator Bill Weber received a warm welcome during a recent visit to Sanz Cheder, where he addressed the student body on education funding, school transportation, childcare assistance, and his year-round commitment to serving the community.

The Sanz community strongly supported Senator Weber during his successful 2024 reelection campaign, which he won by a landslide of nearly 10,000 votes. The visit was marked by heartfelt expressions of hakaras hatov for the Senator’s continued assistance to the school and community.

The visit reflected Senator Weber's longstanding relationship with Sanz, including annual visits to its summer camp and years of assistance with community concerns. A Sanz representative described the resolution of one particularly challenging issue as a “miracle” because of the rapid result Senator Weber's office achieved.

Introducing Senator Weber, Sanz Cheder's menahel, Rabbi Mashinsky, spoke to the students about making the right choices and recognizing those who consistently do the right thing.

Rabbi Mashinsky recalled his surprise when Senator Weber personally called him on election night two years ago to share the news of his victory. He explained that the Senator’s support of the community went beyond campaign promises. Senator Weber was accessible and responsive to organizations and individuals then, and has remained so throughout his time in office, not just during election season.

Rabbi Mashinsky reminded the talmidim of the unique power of Torah learning and tefillos of children and offered Senator Weber a heartfelt bracha for continued health, special siyata d'shmaya, and an easy path forward. The children's resounding amen added to the power of the moment.

Addressing the students, Senator Weber confirmed that Rabbi Mashinsky was among the first people he called following his reelection.

“We want to make sure we don't just tell our story before an election, show up before an election, but on all days,” the Senator told the gathering. ”We're here for you every single day.”

Emphasizing the importance of trust and keeping commitments, he added, “It's important to make sure people know who I am, what I do, and that they can rely on us. Our word is our bond.”

During his visit, Senator Weber discussed his work helping secure hundreds of millions of dollars in statewide education funding and his legislative efforts to improve school transportation, acknowledging that challenges remain.

He also addressed the growing demand for childcare assistance in his rapidly expanding district, which he described as the fastest-growing in New York. With children's well-being as a top priority, he stressed the need to anticipate demand and avoid repeating previous funding shortfalls that left some parents unable to work because childcare assistance was unavailable.

“I can't wait to call you on Tuesday, November 3, when we win again,” the Senator concluded.
