Village of New Square Receives $2 Million State Grant for Drainage Infrastructure Improvements from the State of New York
NEW SQUARE, NY – The Village of New Square has been awarded a $2 million grant from New York State to continue critical drainage infrastructure improvements throughout the community. This significant investment will enable the Village to expand upon recent successful drainage upgrades and address persistent flooding concerns affecting residents and neighboring areas.
The funding comes at a crucial time as the Village works to enhance its stormwater management system and protect properties from water damage. Previous drainage improvement projects have already demonstrated measurable success in reducing flooding incidents, and this new phase of work will extend those benefits to additional sections of the Village.
"This grant represents a major step forward in our ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvement and resident safety," said Mayor Spitzer. "The initial drainage projects have proven effective in mitigating flooding issues, and we're grateful to New York State for recognizing the importance of this work and investing in our community's future."
The drainage upgrades will specifically target areas that have experienced recurring flooding problems, implementing modern stormwater management solutions designed to protect homes, businesses, and roadways. The improvements will benefit not only Village of New Square residents but also neighbors in surrounding communities who have been impacted by drainage-related flooding.
