Update on Third-Alarm Fire at Jeffrey Place as Significant Damage Is Reported

The major fire at 14 Jeffrey Place caused extensive damage to multiple apartments, leaving several units unusable. Fire officials say one of the apartments was undergoing construction at the time of the fire, which may have contributed to how quickly the blaze spread.

Photos obtained from inside the building show extensive damage, with debris, smoke and water damage, and destroyed interiors across multiple apartments. Among those impacted is a sheitel macher who worked out of the building. Authorities say a large number of costly wigs stored inside the apartment were completely destroyed in the fire.

The Monsey Fire Department led the response and arrived within moments of the initial call, deploying two fire trucks in under 60 seconds. The rapid response comes following recent investments by the department in a new alert and deployment system, aiming to maintain atleast one fully staffed crew on duty. Numerous surrounding fire departments assisted as crews worked for hours to bring the blaze under control.

Chaverim of Rockland, Ramapo Police, Hatzoloh, and Spring Hill EMS were also on scene providing support, traffic control, and medical standby. No injuries have been reported, and fire marshals are continuing to investigate the cause.
