Travel Alert: July 4th Closures

July 4th weekend will cause lots of traffic from Thursday through Sunday. Travel experts are predicting record-breaking numbers of travelers, with millions expected to be on the road. 

The Port Authority of NY and NJ released a list of lane closures for July 4th weekend:

George Washington Bridge

On Thursday, July 4, the north walk will be closed from 7PM to 10PM due to the Macy’s Fourth of July Parade. 

On Friday, July 5th, one eastbound lane on the upper level will be closed from 10:15-4:30PM, and from 10:30-4:30 an eastbound lane on the lower lane will be closed as well. 

Holland Tunnel

On Friday, from 11:59PM to 9AM Saturday, the New Jersey-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will be closed due to repairs. 

The NJ bound tube will close again from 11PM Sunday, July 7, to 5:30AM Monday. and Tunnel. The NY bound tube won’t be affected by either closure. 

Lincoln Tunnel

From 11PM on Thursday through 5AM on Friday the south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel will closed. The NY and NJ bound center and north tubes won’t be affected.
