Travel Alert: July 4th Closures

July 4th weekend will cause lots of traffic from Thursday through Sunday. Travel experts are predicting record-breaking numbers of travelers, with millions expected to be on the road. 

The Port Authority of NY and NJ released a list of lane closures for July 4th weekend:

George Washington Bridge

• On Thursday, July 4, the north walk will be closed from 7PM to 10PM due to the Macy’s Fourth of July Parade. 

• On Friday, July 5th, one eastbound lane on the upper level will be closed from 10:15-4:30PM, and from 10:30-4:30 an eastbound lane on the lower lane will be closed as well. 

Holland Tunnel

• On Friday, from 11:59PM to 9AM Saturday, the New Jersey-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will be closed due to repairs. 

• The NJ bound tube will close again from 11PM Sunday, July 7, to 5:30AM Monday. and Tunnel. The NY bound tube won’t be affected by either closure. 

Lincoln Tunnel

• From 11PM on Thursday through 5AM on Friday the south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel will closed. The NY and NJ bound center and north tubes won’t be affected.
