Lake Road in Congers has reopened after being temporarily closed early this morning following a collision between a train and a vehicle at the railroad crossing.

According to the Clarkstown Police Department, officers responded around 2:45 a.m. to reports of a car stuck on the tracks at the Lake Road crossing. A southbound train struck the unoccupied vehicle shortly after.

Police said the driver was able to exit the car safely before the collision, and no injuries were reported.

The crossing was shut down while crews removed the vehicle and conducted a safety inspection of the tracks. As of 6:20 a.m., Lake Road has reopened to traffic.
