Town Officials Provide Update on Ongoing Closure of Congers Lake Trailway Boardwalk
Yisroel R.
A closed section of the Congers Lake Trailway is expected to remain off limits for the near future as the Town of Clarkstown continues working through repairs to part of the boardwalk near the lake.
The issue is centered around the stretch between markers 47 and 54, where several older support pilings underneath the walkway have shifted over time and separated from parts of the structure. The section was closed earlier due to safety concerns.
The Town has been reviewing the condition of the boardwalk and exploring different repair options, including possible temporary fixes while a larger long-term solution is planned. However, because the work involves the lake area and surrounding environment, permits from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation are required before repairs can begin.
Town officials said they remain in contact with state agencies in an effort to move the process along as quickly as possible, though no reopening timeline has been announced at this time.
