Town Of Ramapo Recognizes Chaverim As Official Emergency Preparedness Partner

By Idy Perl

After filing a proposal with the Town of Ramapo, Chaverim of Rockland has now officially been recognized by the Town as an official Emergency Preparedness Partner.

In the proposal, Chaverim conveyed their longstanding dedication to the community and the services they provide to local residents completely free of charge, such as roadside assistance, search and rescue operations, disaster response, and general emergency aid. As their goals align with the mission of the Town's Office of Emergency Preparedness, Chaverim asked to be recognized as an official Town partner.

Today, the Town Board accepted the proposal and designated Chaverim of Rockland as official partner in the Town's emergency preparedness efforts.

The new partnership will provide Chaverim with additional resources so they can expand their services to the community. That includes essential equipment for joint use, such as communication tools, traffic control equipment, and safety gear, assistance with direct expenses such as fuel for vehicles used in emergency response and town-supported events, and formal inclusion in training opportunities and municipal emergency plans.

"The Town is proud of our partnership with Chaverim and all the great work that they perform in our community," Town Supervisor Michael Specht tells Rockland Daily. "We look forward to expanding and enhancing our relationship by officially incorporating Chaverim into our emergency preparedness plans to promote greater safety and emergency response  for our residents."
