The Town of Ramapo held its annual pre-Pesach coordination meeting at Town Hall, bringing together local agencies and community askanim to prepare for the busy weeks leading up to Yom Tov.
According to the agenda discussed, officials reviewed plans for expanded garbage collection beginning the week of March 16, including daily pickups, additional packer trucks, and improved communication between Litter Patrol, the Department of Public Works and Interstate Waste Services to address complaints more efficiently.
Rockland Green officials discussed extended hours at the transfer station, including additional Sunday availability. Fire safety was also a major topic, with the Monsey Fire Department and the town fire inspector outlining plans for the annual chometz burn scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, from 6:00 a.m. to noon at designated locations including Manny Weldler Park, Boulders Stadium, Park & Ride and Clark Park.
Town officials further reviewed preparations for the burn sites, including roll-off containers, barricades, pallets, cleanup operations and insurance requirements. Additional dumpsters will be placed at several locations throughout town, including Manny Weldler Park, Boulders Stadium, Spook Rock Pool, Saddle River Pool, Willow Tree Park and Clark Park. Street sweepers will be deployed by the Ramapo Highway Department, and law enforcement discussed plans for orderly parking, traffic control and enforcement.
The meeting focused on coordination between town departments and community leaders to ensure a safe, organized and efficient Pesach season for residents.
