Tomche Shabbos's 29th Annual Dinner Pronounced a Success

Tomche Shabbos's 29th Annual Dinner Pronounced a Success

By M. C. Millman

Tomche Shabbos celebrated at its 29th Annual Dinner this Sunday, January 7, at 6:00 p.m. at the Atrium Plaza in Monsey.

For more than thirty years, Tomche Shabbos of Rockland County's essence has been its critical, life-saving Thursday night Shabbos boxes for those in our community suffering from food insecurity.

While Tomche Shabbos spearheads countless other projects that help account for a multi-million dollar annual budget, including Tomche Shabbos's Yom Tov clothing store - Bobbie's Place, Partners in Parnassah Program, Monsey Camp fund, Emergency Financial Assistance, Pesach Fund, Utility Fund, Chodesh Food Outlet, Simcha Initiative, Gown Gmach, and so much more, the focus of Sunday night was Tomche Shabbos exclusively.

"It was wonderful attending the Tomche Shabbos dinner for the second year in a row," Senator Bill Weber shares exclusively with Rockland Daily.  "Tomche is a vital asset in Rockland County, and I'm proud to partner with them on behalf of all Rocklanders."

The evening's honorees included Dov and Rochel Weller as Guests of Honor; Shua and Poiry Berman, recipients of the Allen Nussbaum Award for Excellence; and Shuie and Leah Metal, recipient of the Community Service Award.

"It was an honor to attend Tomche Shabbos 29th Annual Award Dinner tonight," Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht tells Rockland Daily, "Ramapo is truly fortunate to be the home of this wonderful organization and its selfless, dedicated volunteers who help hundreds of local families in need each week in a way that preserves their dignity and respect. Mazal tov to tonight's award winners, the Metal, Weller, and Berman families, for their great work, and thank you to Director Alan Rosenstock, the Board of Directors of Tomche Shabbos, and the many volunteers who provide help, hope, and kindness to so many people."

The evening allowed Tomche Shabbos to take the opportunity to pay tribute to the community at an event that was far from one's standard charity dinner. Besides for the informal but elegant smorgasbord being served, participants experienced a musical journey with the popular Joey Newcomb, whose melodies served to enhance the Tomche Shabbos mission and will echo through the coming year for attendees of the kumzitz who left with the spirit of that which makes Tomche Shabbos reverberate through the soul of Rockland.
