Thief Arrested After Three Month Burglary Spree

by Rockland Daily Staff

The Ramapo Police Department arrested an individual wanted for five separate burglaries over the last three months in the Village of New Hempstead and Monsey area.

On three occasions, the thief entered a building on the grounds of the bais hachaim in New Hempstead and emptied the contents of the tzadakah box. Two Monsey shuls also had their tzedakah boxes emptied before the thief was identified and located by the Ramapo Police Investigations Division.

Maurice Deutsch, a 40-year-old male from Brooklyn, was placed under arrest last week for the above crimes and charged with five counts of burglary and five counts of petit larceny. Deutsch already has an outstanding bench warrant for similar crimes in the Village of New Hempstead, yet he was arraigned on all charges and released on his own recognizance for a future court date.
