Team of Rockland Chaverim Volunteers Rescue Injured Hiker from Cliff at Mountain in Pomona

A team of around 20 volunteers with Chaverim of Rockland rescued and treated an injured hiker on Sunday after she fell and injured herself near a cliff along a hiking trail in Pomona on Sunday morning.

The call came into Chaverim at around 10:45 am, that a female hiker has suffered bruises and injuries as a result of a fall while hiking at a Mountain, Yossi Margeretten, the organization’s coordinator told Rockland Daily.

“We immediately sent out the call to our Search and Rescue volunteers, who sent out 3 teams of 7 people each to locate and treat the injured woman and bring her to safety,” Margeretten said.

The members arrived at the mountain approximately 15 minutes later and started the climb up the mountain to locate the woman, who was unable to walk down the trail due to her injuries.

It took the members about 45 minutes to get to her location. Once there they treated her, provided a warm covering, and brought her down with a stretcher through the entire hiking trail. Once she was brought to safety, Rockland Hatzalah treated the elderly woman and transported the patient to a nearby medical center for further treatment.

Ramapo Police was also at the scene to assist with the search and rescue.
