Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Sruly Eisenbach Resolves Tax Billing Issue

By Idy Perl

Deputy Mayor Sruly Eisenbach has been working behind the scenes for several months to resolve a tax billing issue that has been impacting between 50-75 families in Spring Valley.

Most residents in Spring Valley get billed for garbage collection services on their county tax bill. Condominiums of over 4 families though are considered commercial properties, and therefore arrange their own private garbage collection.

A few months ago residents at 6 Ewing Avenue reached out to Deputy Mayor Eisenbach that they noticed that they were being billed for garbage collection from the village, even though they were paying for private garbage collection, and were essentially paying the county for a service they weren't receiving.

The Deputy Mayor looked into the issue, and after much hard work and investigation confirmed that they were correct. In addition, he noticed that several other condos in Spring Valley had the same issue, and though they had private contracts with collection companies such as  Carlo Minuto Carting or IWS, were paying the county as well. Several of those residents, who live in condos at 31 and 43 North Madison Ave, 111 Union Rd,  37 Ridge Ave, among others, were completely unaware and were unknowingly paying double for garbage collection.

Deputy Mayor Eisenbach sent out a letter to the effected units to make them aware of the issue, and reassured them after much hard work he had suceeded in resolving the issue, and confirmed that their next county bill, which will be sent out in January, won't include the garbage collection tax. This will save each of those families around $800, a significant sum that that will now stay in their pockets.
