Senator Weber Advocates for Eruv Along Route 202

Senator Weber Advocates for Eruv Along Route 202

For years, the newer residents of Route 202 between Montebello and Pomona have been without an Eruv. This longstanding need is finally being addressed, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Senator Bill Weber, his team, Rockland Eruv, and local Askonim.

Senator Weber is known for his commitment to advocating for the needs of all residents and for being a strong proponent of religious liberty.

The breakthrough began when local resident Heshy Jay contacted Morty Becker in Senator Weber’s office. Fortunately, Senator Weber had a meeting scheduled with the CEO of O&R the following week. This timely Hashgacha allowed Senator Weber to address the Eruv issue directly with O&R’s highest leadership. The Senator subsequently held a meeting with a large group of residents in the neighborhood requiring an Eruv. The meeting was led by Rabbi Steinmetz with the participation of senior Asken Hershel Rosenberg. Senator Weber proactively arranged a follow-up meeting in his office with the leadership of O&R and Rockland Eruv.

One significant challenge raised by O&R was that the best route for the Eruv would pass through NYS Parkland. Senator Weber's team is now working closely with state officials to resolve this issue. O&R is also actively exploring safe solutions, such as the use of plastic piping, to accommodate the presence of high power lines.

Thanks to Senator Weber's ongoing advocacy and the dedicated efforts of all involved parties, there is renewed hope that an Eruv may soon be established, significantly enhancing  Shabbos for everyone in the area.
