Rockland Writes: Safety Concerns on Old Nyack Turnpike

Dear Editor,

Residents in Monsey are voicing concern about traffic and pedestrian safety on Old Nyack Turnpike, saying the road has become increasingly dangerous, especially for children trying to cross.

With more homes going up on both sides of the street, people are often forced to cross a busy road with fast moving traffic and no real safety measures in place.

Community members are now circulating a petition, calling on the Town of Ramapo and Rockland County to address the issue and put meaningful safety solutions in place before additional development moves forward.

Residents hope action will be taken soon, ideally before the summer months, when foot traffic increases and more people are out on the street.

The message from the community is unified and urgent, coming straight from local families who use Old Nyack Turnpike every day and simply want to cross the road safely.

Sincerely,

Moshe T.

Monsey, NY
