Rockland Sheriff’s Office Launches New Police Dispatch System
By Y.M. Lowy
The Sheriff’s Office Communications Division is now running the Police Priority Dispatch System (PPDS). The system, supported by Priority Dispatch Corp. and guided by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, is designed to make emergency calls faster.
The Division first rolled out the fire and medical parts of the system in March, with great success. Today’s first PPDS call came in around 9:30 a.m. of a stalled vehicle on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.
The launch puts the Division alongside more than 4,000 agencies across the U.S. and 59 countries using these top-tier dispatch standards.
