Rockland's New Fire Operations Building Put to the Test
By M.C. Millman
The new Fire Operations Building, located at the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona, held an initial test burn last week.
The test, conducted in the presence of instructors and staff, seasoned the burn rooms of the recently completed new Fire Operations Building. The continued progress of the building's construction was followed by Rockland Daily here.
Seasoning prepares the new interior components of the building for future high-heat use. To that end, several low-temperature burns (300-600 degrees) were performed in the designated burn rooms. In addition, the artificial smoke machine, the building's exhaust system, and the temperature monitoring system were all tested successfully.
