Rockland County Warned of Accelerated Fire Risk

Rockland Daily Staff

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Rockland County, warning that today's conditions favor the accelerated spread of fire.

The high potential for fire spread is due to the dry conditions and gusty winds given the dry conditions, along with relative humidity values below 30 percent. Wind gusts upwards of 25 to 30 mph are also expected throughout the day.

Despite the recent green-up, these conditions may allow for elevated fire will spread throughout the afternoon if ignition occurs. Extra care is being advised should one come into contact with any potential flammables until the next rainfall.
