Rockland County Tests Mobile Emergency Operations Center During Preparedness Drill

Rockland County emergency officials conducted a preparedness exercise, successfully setting up a fully operational mobile Emergency Operations Center in approximately 30 minutes.

The Rockland County Office of Fire and Emergency Services’ Emergency Management Division held the exercise at Kennedy Dells County Park as part of National Preparedness Month.

During the drill, crews deployed a Zumro shelter and equipped the temporary command center with Starlink internet service, generators and battery power, lighting, air conditioning, and multiple computer workstations.

The exercise also included the deployment of an Emergency Management drone, providing aerial overwatch of the area.

County officials said the exercise was designed to ensure that equipment and systems are fully operational before they are needed during an actual emergency.

Officials described the drill as a success, demonstrating the county’s ability to quickly establish a functioning command center during an emergency or major incident.
