Rockland County Sheriff's Office Welcomes New K9 Addition

By Idy Perl
Rockland County's Sheriff's team excitedly welcomed a new addition to their K9 unit today.
The team welcomed PO Mark Colon and K9 Reedy, a 14-month-old German Shepherd from Poland. K9 Reedy is named after Officer Michael J. Reedy, who was an officer with the Orangetown Police Department and was killed in the line of duty in 1973.
K9 Reedy and his PO Colon will begin training at Patrol School, run by the Orange County Sheriff's office, next week. After completing the intense training, K9 Reedy will be certified in tracking, evidence recovery, criminal apprehension, handler protection and narcotics detection.
Good luck!
