Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Honors Officers for Exceptional Work at Awards Ceremony

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office held its annual Awards and Promotions Ceremony, recognizing officers whose work in 2024 stood out for bravery, quick action, and strong service to the community. 

Among the top honors was the Excellent Police Duty Award. Recipients included Sgt. Angelo Bragaglia and K9 Mac, who helped Haverstraw Police track down a loaded Glock and ski mask after an armed robbery. 

Officers Joe Pacione and Detective Stephan Kobyleckyj were recognized for safely disarming a woman armed with scissors through calm de-escalation. 

Officer Vincenzo Rotundo received the award for a DWI stop that uncovered a stolen, loaded .38 handgun and illegal substances, while Officer Joseph Selchick was honored for recovering an illegal 9mm handgun after stopping an erratic driver on the Palisades. 

Officer Brian Neary, K9 Galli, and Officer Joseph Modica were also recognized for tracking a fleeing suspect through the woods and taking him into custody.

The ceremony also marked a series of promotions, including Patrol Lieutenant Omar Munoz being elevated to Patrol Captain. New Patrol Lieutenants include Detective Sergeant Christopher Finch and Patrol Sergeant Thomas Hendrickson. Several officers and detectives were promoted to Patrol Sergeant, and Patrol Sergeants Matt Myers and Kevin Golden were promoted to Detective Sergeant. Officers Conor McMorrow-Kwalwasser and Ryan Blair were sworn in as detectives.

The Sheriff’s Office closed with congratulations to all award recipients, promoted members, and the K9s who served alongside them, noting that the strength of the department depends on every member.
